Dr. Rafael Moguel

Key Interventional Cardiologist and Regenerative Medicine specialist at ISSCA

Dr. Rafael Moguel is a highly accomplished interventional cardiologist with over 30 years of experience in cardiovascular procedures and a growing focus on regenerative medicine. After earning his medical degree from Universidad Veracruzana in 1983, he specialized in internal medicine and cardiology at Hospital 1° de Octubre in Mexico. Further refining his expertise, he pursued advanced certifications in pacemaker technology (Medtronic, USA), hemodynamics, and interventional cardiology in prestigious institutions across Mexico, Spain, and the United States.

Dr. Moguel is renowned for pioneering the radial artery approach to catheterization in the Americas and has performed over 10,000 interventional procedures, encompassing coronary, peripheral, and cerebral interventions, as well as the implantation of pacemakers, ICDs, and resynchronization devices. He served as Head of Interventional Cardiology at Hospital 1° de Octubre and currently leads the Cardiology and Hemodynamics department at Centro Médico de Cozumel.

As an instructor for ISSCA, Dr. Moguel combines his vast experience in cardiology with cutting-edge regenerative medicine techniques. His teaching focuses on the integration of cellular therapies for cardiovascular repair and overall tissue regeneration. A fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention (SCAI) and an active member of SOCIME and SOLACI, Dr. Moguel is dedicated to advancing medical education and empowering physicians worldwide with innovative, evidence-based practices in regenerative medicine.
